If there is NOT AN IMMEDIATE THREAT OF DANGER but someone is acting out due to their mental state,
in the City of Houston, call HD’s non-emergency number at 713-884-3131 and request a “Crisis Intervention Trained (CIT) Officer” be dispatched to the location of the incident.
Contact the Mobile Crisis Outreach Team (MCOT) or Crisis Intervention Response Team (CIRT) in partnership with the HPD and the HCSO. These programs offer crisis services to people experiencing a mental health crisis but are unable and/or initially unwilling to access services through a traditional psychiatric outpatient setting. Call 713-970-7000 and press #1 for the Crisis Lien to determine if you or your child are in need of one of these services.
CIT is a specialized unit formed within the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office. Our goal is to assist those suffering from a mental illness that are unable or unwilling to access routine outpatient clinical services. CIT services are voluntary.
