The Clark Psychiatric Group, P.C. is a medical practice in Adult Psychiatry owned and managed by Michelle O. Clark, M.D., DLFAPA. Dr. Clark offers a level of experience achieved over 45 years of practice in multiple areas including outpatient, general medical /surgical consultation, inpatient and forensic psychiatry. She is a graduate of Columbia University, College of Physicians & Surgeons and the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute Residency Training program. She is a former faculty member of the Charles R. Drew, M.D. University of Medicine and Science and the University of California, School of Medicine (UCSF), Department of Psychiatry having achieved the level of Associate Clinical Professor, III. She was the founding Director of the Black Focus Program, part of the award-winning multicultural programs of the UCSF San Francisco General Hospitals’ Inpatient Psychiatry services. Her expertise includes management of severe anxiety, depression syndromes, and other serious mental disorders particularly through the cross-cultural lenses necessary to appreciate each individual’s unique experience of their malady. She is also experienced in assessing and managing psychiatric complications of general medical and surgical problems. Dr. Clark spent the last twenty years studying integrative, alternative medicine and metaphysics with the Association of Black Women Physicians (ABWP) in continuing medical education (CME) programs through the University of Arizona, Tucson at the Canyon Ranch Medical Spa. Her practice style includes anthro-bio-psycho-social-spiritual, whole person approach. Dr. Clark has also been active in major guild organizations with a focus on abolishing racism in psychiatry and ensuring access and culturally appropriate services for patients. She is a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association (DLFAPA) and was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award, among others, by the Black Psychiatrists of America, Inc. The Clark Psychiatric Group, P.C. includes independent associates Zakee Matthews, M.D. Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist and Dr. Gwendolyn Rowe, Dr. P.H., LCSW therapist and medical services navigator. We operate Monday through Saturday, excluding holidays in collaboration with Sankofa Holistic Counseling Services, Inc. near Lake Merritt in Oakland, California.
